PANTALICA

Design: Mauro Lipparini, 2025

The archaeological site of Pantalica, near Syracuse, represents an example not only of artistic and natural beauty but of human resourcefulness. In the elements of the chandelier that takes its name, we can find both that aesthetic heritage and the acme of artisanal craftsmanship.

Drawing from the incomparable Bauhaus legacy, the Pantalica lamp recalls the thinking of Oskar Schlemmer: a lamp conceived as a cosmos where planets are arranged along an axis, traversed and illuminated by a central tube that radiates light from sources at either end.

The composition is made more grounded, less abstract, by the large natural leather strap, allowing for variations in its horizontal or inclined position as well as its height, suspending an idealized planetary system of globes, metal discs, and a glass cylinder. Transparency and materiality come together here in a sophisticated, graceful vision.
